Welcome, fellow Chroniclers! It’s a brand new month, and what better way to kick things off than with a fresh episode of The Chronicle Film Podcast? For Episode 67, we are diving headfirst into a heated debate as we deliver our comprehensive The Dog Stars review.

In this episode, Oscar Trinick and I dissect legendary director Ridley Scott’s latest post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller. Despite its massive scope, the film has faced intense negative criticism and a disappointing run at the box office. We tackle the big questions: Does the movie truly deserve the bad press? Are cinephiles being misled by trailers that promise an action-packed blockbuster, only to deliver something entirely different?

Based on Peter Heller’s hit novel, the film stars Jacob Elordi as a young pilot searching for hope after a global pandemic, alongside a stellar cast featuring Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney.
