Exploring 80s Glamour in MaXXXine and Fly Me To The Moon

Mia Goth as MaXXXine

Love movies. Your in the right place as The Chronicle Film Podcast episode 032 is ready for your audio pleasure. Clotilde Chinnici and Paul Devine  review Ti West’s MaXXXine along with 1960’s set rom-com Fly Me To The Moon.

We will go back to the 1980’s with MaXXXine and to 1985, Maxine Minx is “f***in’ Star”. Mia Goth reprises her from X, now blinded by the light of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. She wants to move from the Adult industry to become a legit actress, meanwhile the Nightstalker is terrorising the city. Maxine’s past also threatens her future will she become that star? The film marks the third and  final film for Ti West’s X Trilogy will it be a fitting ending?

The final review will take us back to 1969 and Greg Berlanti‘s rom-com drama Fly Me To The Moon. Starring Scarlett Johansson is Kelly Jones Marketing maven who is hired to direct a ‘fake moon landing’. In case Apollo 11 mission fails,  Launch director, Cole Davis (Channing Tatum) is determined to succeed.
