Another episode of The Chronicle film podcast is here. In Episode 015, I reviewed the latest DC superhero movie, Blue Beetle, and the potty-mouthed comedy, Strays. Now you can here this episode on Chronicles In Film.
First up is DC’s latest superhero film, “Blue Beetle.” This is the last film before we enter the James Gunn era. Will it provide a fitting ending? Xolo Maridueña stars as Jaime Reyes, who returns home to Palmeyra City in Mexico, only to find himself without a job and facing threats of eviction. Jaime’s life changes forever when he attends an interview at Kord Industries and is given a box containing alien technology that will alter his life forever.
The second and final review for this episode will be the comedy “Strays,” featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher, and Randall Park. We follow Reggie (Ferrell), who loves life and his owner Doug (Will Forte), a lewd, crude dopehead who despises the dog. Doug enjoys playing “Fetch & F*ck,” in which he takes the dog on an extensive game of fetch, only for Reggie to realize he has become a stray. Street dog Bug (Foxx) takes him under his wing, and together with Hunter (Park) and Maggie (Fisher), they embark on a journey of sweet revenge, ‘Doggstyle’!
